Set up your loss reasons
When you close an opportunity as lost, the pipeline asks Why was it lost?. You define the reasons on that list here, tailored to your business. It opens in Settings → Loss reasons.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”The seven that come with it
Section titled “The seven that come with it”The catalog is born with seven preloaded reasons —Price, Went with a competitor, Stopped responding, No budget, Bad timing, Duplicate and Other reason— so you can close opportunities from day one. Each carries the System tag.
Add and edit your own
Section titled “Add and edit your own”New reason opens the drawer where you give it a Name (Spanish) (and Name (English) if you work bilingually). It shows up with the Yours tag. To fix the wording of any of them —yours or the system’s— use Edit.
Archive vs. delete
Section titled “Archive vs. delete”- The system ones aren’t deleted, they’re archived. Archiving one stops it from being offered when closing an opportunity, but the opportunities that already had it keep their reason (no lost history or report).
- Yours can be deleted. Still, if it’s already used on an opportunity, it’s better to archive it than delete it, for the same reason: don’t break what’s already recorded.
Where they show up
Section titled “Where they show up”The active (non-archived) reasons are what your team sees in the Why was it lost? dialog when they drop an opportunity into the pipeline’s Lost zone — and they’re what the loss report then groups by, so you know where your deals fall through.
